Spotlight - Wind Dancers

"Four tiny horses with shiny manes and shimmery wings burst from a dandelion seed. Four magical horses who can fly! Dancing on the wind, surrounded by magical haloes, they are the Wind Dancers. Delighted with themselves and with their newly discovered magic, the four new friends—Kona, Brisa, Sumatra, and Sirocco—set out to discover all that their magic has to offer."
I believe the saying goes: "If wishes were horses, I'd have at least a hundred of them in my backyard!" Okay, well, maybe that ISN'T how the saying goes, but wouldn't that be awesome if it was? Imagine this:

You're sitting outside on a sunny day. Everything is absolutely perfect - there's a light breeze making the leaves of the trees and the grass ruffle, the sun is shining, the sky is a bright blue. You pick up a dandelion puff and blow on it, scattering the seeds. But wait, there's something ELSE there--

That is the plot of the Wind Dancers series by author Sibley Miller. Originally based on the Wind Dancers figures released by Breyer, the stories behind these little winged ponies just grew and grew until there were 12 books to read!

Originally released in 2008, the Wind Dancers series had four books: #1 If Wishes Were Horses, #2 Horse Happy, #3 The Horse Must Go On, and #4 Horse's Night Out.

With the series gaining heavily in popularity that year, another four books were released in 2009: #5 Head's Up Horses, #6 Horses Her Way, #7 A Horse, Of Course!, and #8 Hungry As A Horse.

While the first four books dealt with the horses beginning their life on Earth, these next four books centered around problems they faced as a team- competitiveness, sharing, and being yourself.

The series stalled in popularity after this, but in 2011, four more books came out: #9 A Horse's Best Friend, #10 Merry-Go-Horses, #11 Horsey Trails, and #12 Magic Horses - Or Not?
In these four books, the Wind Dancers almost became a bit self-aware, especially in the sense of how small they are compared to Earth horses.
These books are for Elementary-age children and younger, with gorgeous full-color illustrations and stories that will spark a lasting interest for horses and magic alike! Published by Macmillan Publishers, you can pick up these books just about anywhere.

And don't forget to bring home the actual horses to match! Beautiful molds with gorgeous, shimmering wings and metallic coats, these lovely pegasi would be a knock-out in the show ring!
