Kentucky 2016 - Day Three

Friday- the first day of BreyerFest! And, boy, was it a LONG day for us.

All set up and ready to roll!
We were up bright and early at five in the morning and at the show hall for six. With the show starting at seven, we had around an hour to set up and get tags and performance scenes in order. Not that hard of a task when it seems like you've done it a million times, right?

Right.

The ribbon table.

Some lovely glossy "Don't Look Twice" prize models.
BreyerFest has some really cool classes. Ever heard of a "Collector's Class"? A Collector's Class is essentially a class where everyone builds a display themed to match the group of models they want to showcase. Whether it be a conga, a timeline of BreyerFest or your time in the hobby - any theme you can think of!

Neat, huh? And look at my mom's performance scene from this morning:

Cowboy Austin and Nugget came back with a second place (and a lot of laughs)!

Those glistening plastic abs.
And the day just kept getting better from there. Lots of ribbons on my end (no firsts, though), but I guess beginner's luck runs in the family because at her first Open Show, my mom came home with a Reserve Section Champion.

Give it up for "She-Bop"!
And "Tashunka", my custom Wild Bronc resin, came home with a sixth in a large custom Mustang class.

That's my boy!
For our first Open Show outing, I'd say we both did pretty good. Between running back and forth to different rings, straining to hear the loudspeaker over the showhall chatter, and the Kentucky heat, we had a challenging (but fun) day.

What a haul for Lilly Hill Farms!

And Inkblot Stables didn't do too badly, either.
Stay tuned for more adventures! Tomorrow: Stone Age Live at the Lexington Convention Center.
