Kentucky 2016 - Day Two

Ah, yes- it's finally Thursday.

A morning at the Peddler's Mall.
With BreyerFest Live tomorrow and Stone Age Live on Saturday, today was our one chance to hang out in Lexington, and we definitely took advantage of that. Our morning started off at the Peddler's Mall Antique Shop just across the street from our hotel. (More details on what we found are coming later!) It's always one of our favorite stops, and we've hit it every year since 2010.

Our next stop was Hobby Lobby and one of the (many) malls in Lexington. We needed to pick up a new tub of Sticky Wax for my mom's performance scenes tomorrow, but otherwise our Hobby Lobby stop was mainly for interior decorating purposes. And the mall? Well, neither of us are big clothes shoppers, but I really DO love popping into Hot Topic and FYE (For Your Entertainment) to see what they have to offer.

Holy life-sized Batman, Batman!
And what better way to finish off an afternoon at the mall than with a piece of turtle cheesecake from The Cheesecake Factory?

Yum!
After the mall? The Clarion for opening night of the Artisan's Gallery! The best of the best in the model horse world all crammed into one room. This year features harness and wagon maker Tiki Kulp, Bill Duncan wagons, Morgen Kilbourn, Kristina Lucas-Francis, and other amazing artists.

And nothing compares to the Best Customs Contest.

"The Chestnut Nightmare"
Breyer's Best Customs Contest is for the most amazing artists in the hobby with prizes for best finishwork, most extreme, and best under saddle, it's incredible to see these pieces of art in person.

A... giraffe? YES!

A Pegasus fit to drool over.

A "Percy Jackson"-style micro mini Hippocampus.

A custom "Wyatt" maybe?

"Cigar" to a beautiful "Big Red".
And not from the Best Customs Contest, a little peek at some of my favorite sale pieces of the evening.

AR Donkies!

A micro-mini circus wagon - complete with a matching six-horse team.

Cowboy Austin needed his picture at the Clarion. It was a little too crowded to bring him inside, but we settled for a quick snapshot out front before heading onto our next stop- the Fairfield Inn.

Buh-bye room sales!
The Fairfield Inn is home to the Equilocity Discount Sale, which we took full advantage of. With everything from special event models to one of a kind auction models and basket raffles, the Fairfield is definitely a neat stop when you're in Lexington.

Isn't he gorgeous? (And check out that weedle!)

"The Beast"

"Alice" - my favorite.
What did I come home with? Well, after a couple hours of decision making and scoping the room several hundred times for the PERFECT horse, I spent my Stone Bucks on this little guy right here:

Pictures don't quite do him justice.
Meet "White Rabbit" - a run of 10 Andalusian chip. Keeping with the Alice in Wonderland theme, I've renamed mine to "Looking Glass". He's such a beautiful boy.

Stay tuned for pictures from BreyerFest Live tomorrow! We're going to make sure we take lots of pictures-- our camera is ready!
